The Honor of New Audiences

Hair Brush Rock StarThough few will own up to it, most of us have likely spent at least one late night singing into a mirror, holding a hair-brush and dreaming of an audience. My most memorable “mirror moment” was in 1987 in a college dorm room – alone on a Saturday night – wailing Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” to my harrowed reflection. I guess we all have a song to sing, but we’re not always blessed with an attentive audience. With this in mind, I couldn’t help but feel privileged to have three brand new “audiences” this week. I wanted to share my gratitude here:

  1. On Monday, I was elated to be the guest blogger for the fabulous Technical Writing group DMN Communications, known in the tweetsphere as the @DMNguys. In this post, I shared my “Daily Affirmations for Technical Communicators.” If you work in the Information Development, I invite you to see why I think YOU are Awesome.
  2. In the middle of the week, I was honored to have my “Servant Leadership” post picked up by one of my favorite blogs in the entire world: Lead Change Group, led by the amazing Mike Henry, Sr.. This team of character-based leaders delivers daily wisdom from some of the most notable names in the space. I was stunned to be included and encourage you to take a look at the many profound knowledge nuggets they offer.
  3. Finally, as the week ended, I was delighted to see an interview I’d done with Mark Fidelman, SVP from MindTouch, make it into cyberspace. In this piece, I share my thoughts on the state of the Technical Communications space, as well as some predictions for the future.

All in all, it was an amazing week. The hairbrush became a microphone and the mirror became real readers. Now, I refocus my nocturnal notions on KnowledgeBishop’s Mission. I thank you kindly for your gracious attention.

Have a terrific week. You are AWESOME and you matter!
